LiveWire Lights Up Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025

Seamless acceleration, wild torque, and all eyes on the S2 Alpinista.

LiveWire returned to the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2025 with purpose, power, and a whole lot of torque. Our newest model, S2 Alpinista, made its official hillclimb debut, and from seasoned petrolheads to first-time electric riders, the reactions were all positive.

This wasn’t just about showing up. It was about proving that electric performance belongs at the highest levels of motorsport. And Goodwood, with its rich tradition and future-facing edge, was the perfect stage.

Back up the hill, never been better

Our Goodwood journey started in 2022 when Aaron and Shaun Guardado of SMCO took their custom LiveWire ONE up the hill for the first time. That year, we were the disruptors. This year, we returned with a clear objective: full on performance. We joined the Batch 5 First Glance paddock with the two custom clad Alpinistas by SMCO, bikes built to deliver instant power and effortless control in a sleek, eye popping package. Alongside Aaron and Shaun, eight journalists got to ride the bike up the iconic hill; most for the first time on an EV.

Their reactions? Let’s just say they left the top of the hill with wide eyes and blinding grins.

“Just You, the Bike, and the Hill”

For many riders, the Alpinista turned out to be an unexpectedly visceral experience.

“The second you pull away, it’s just you, the bike, and that iconic track. The throttle response is instant but smooth. The torque delivery is perfect. Regen braking feels natural. It’s immersive.” — Ruby Rides

LiveWire’s performance didn’t just impress, it sparked curiosity and conversations all weekend long. Attendees lined up after the runs to get a closer look, sit on the bike, and ask questions. More than a few said they’d take one home and if it showed up in their garage, they wouldn’t say no.

Standing Out in the Sea of Speed

Let’s be real: Goodwood is filled with exotic supercars, screaming V12s, vintage race bikes, and one-off concepts. But that’s what made our quiet riot custom touches and minimalist setup so effective. No oversized booth. No loud music. Just clean design, stunning tech, and bikes that can rip.

Next to Royal Enfield’s custom builds and across from BMW Motorrad’s Concept RR, the Alpinista didn’t just hold its own, it got people talking. From 3D-printed metal components to lightweight carbon wheels, every detail was engineered to spark curiosity and show that performance electric bikes can be just as beautiful as they are powerful.

Pro drifter Ryan Tuerck gave props from the hill, calling the bike “dope” after watching it climb.

Full Send, All Weekend

Whether lighting up the rear tire for the crowd or carving up the hill with control and speed, the Alpinista was built for this moment. The 17-inch wheels, refined regen, and midrange torque was perfect for the dynamic, unpredictable nature of the Goodwood course.

“We could launch hard, coast smooth, or stop and do a burnout for the crowd. Whatever we threw at it, the bike was ready.”

For many of the journalists, this was their first time riding an EV, especially on a world-class motorsport stage. By the end of their run, most were sold on electric performance.

Favorite moments from SMCO and the LiveWire team

  • A burnout in front of Goodwood House on the final day that was broadcast live on the big screen.
  • An interview with the Festival of Speed host crew—unscripted, authentic, and broadcast to thousands.
  • Seeing old-school motorsport fans light up after watching an EV scream past them on the hill.
  • Getting a nod from industry veterans who tracked SMCO down just to say Long Beach is in the building? That was pretty cool.

“Representing LiveWire at Festival of Speed was easy. The bikes perform—all we had to do was twist the throttle.” — Aaron Guardado of SMCO

Looking Ahead

2022 was bold and broad with demos and displays. 2025 was lean, focused, and all about riding. And that felt right.

As we look to the future, we’ll keep showing up with bikes that don’t just look cool; they prove their worth on the road, on the track, and in front of thousands. We’re not here to be an alternative. We’re here to expand what’s possible on two wheels.
