For generations, learning to ride a motorcycle has meant mastering several skills at once: clutch control, gear changes, braking, throttle management, and low-speed maneuvering. While that's part of what makes motorcycling rewarding, it can also feel intimidating to someone taking their very first ride.
Enter LiveWire S4 Honcho Street.
We're excited to share that the S4 Honcho Street now meets the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) criteria for use in rider training programs and will be joining rider training fleets, creating an exciting new opportunity for new riders to begin their journey on two wheels.

The S4 Honcho Street was designed from the outset with approachability in mind.
At just 266 pounds with a seat height below 30 inches, it's easy to maneuver and comfortable for a wide variety of rider sizes and experience levels. Those compact dimensions make it particularly well suited for the low-speed exercises that form the foundation of rider education.
Combined with a fully electric powertrain, the result is a motorcycle that removes some of the traditional complexity of learning to ride while preserving the core skills and habits that rider training is designed to teach.
As Jon Bekefy, Head of Commercial at LiveWire, explains:
“The next generation of riders is coming up on e-bikes and electric vehicles, so their expectations for mobility are changing. For many, an electric motorcycle is a more natural first step into motorcycling. The S4 Honcho removes traditional barriers to entry and, paired with MSF's world-class training programs, gives new riders a more approachable way to learn safely and build confidence. That matters for LiveWire, and it matters for the future of motorcycling.”

The S4 Honcho Street meets all three primary MSF qualification criteria, including power output, weight, and seat height.
For rider training providers, Honcho offers several characteristics that make it particularly attractive for instructional use:
Together, these features can help create a training environment that feels welcoming to new riders while still building the habits and skills that lead to long-term success on two wheels.

As part of this effort, the S4 Honcho will also join the demo fleet at the upcoming MSF RiderCoach Tour, giving coaches the opportunity to experience the motorcycle firsthand and explore how electric motorcycles can fit into rider training programs.
“We're happy to have LiveWire's Honcho join our training demo fleet at the MSF RiderCoach Tour," said Corey Eastman, Director of Rider Education Expansion for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. "This gives our coaches an opportunity to experience an electric motorcycle in several MSF exercises while broadening the range of options available to training providers as they consider motorcycles for their programs.”
Every rider starts somewhere.
For some, that first experience may be on a dirt bike. For others, it may be a scooter, an e-bike, or an electric motorcycle. As the ways people discover two-wheel transportation continue to evolve, rider training programs have an opportunity to evolve alongside them.
The S4 Honcho Street represents another pathway into motorcycling, one that feels familiar to riders already comfortable with electric mobility while still delivering the skills, confidence, and education needed to build a lifetime of safe riding.
Because growing motorcycling isn't just about building new motorcycles.
It's about helping the next generation of riders take that first step.
