In a move that’s sure to thrill electric motorcycle enthusiasts, LiveWire has just dropped a complimentary software update for all S2 platform motorcycles in the Unites States and Canada. S2 Del Mar®, S2 Mulholland™, and S2 Alpinista™ can now be updated with two new powerful features: Reverse and Roll-Forward Regenerative (RFR) Braking.
Whether you're navigating tight parking spots or looking for more control over your braking, this update is all about making your ride smoother and more intuitive.
Ever tried backing up a motorcycle in a cramped garage or on a steep incline? It could be better. That’s why LiveWire’s newly added Reverse is a game-changer.
With a simple twist of the throttle forward (away from you), your S2 motorcycle will gently roll backward at a controlled walking speed. It’s perfect for tight spaces and tricky terrain. Plus, it’s smart enough to disengage when you release the throttle, giving you full control at all times.
LiveWire’s electric motorcycles already feature coast-down regenerative braking, which kicks in when you release the throttle. But now, with Roll-Forward Regen, you'll have even more control.
By rolling the throttle forward past the neutral position while in motion, you can actively engage maximum regenerative braking, regardless of your ride mode. It’s a seamless way to enhance energy recovery and braking precision, especially in urban environments or twisty roads.
This update is completely free for all current S2 owners, and it’s already rolling out. LiveWire has sent instructions to owners on how to update their motorcycles and activate these features via the bike’s settings menu.
Once updated, both Reverse and RFR Braking are opt-in settings found in the Ride Customization menu on your bike’s instrument panel. You’ll need to make these selections before the bike is in propulsion mode. Once activated, they’ll be ready to elevate your ride every time you hit the road.
LiveWire continues to push the boundaries of electric motorcycle innovation, and this update is a testament to our commitment to rider feedback and real-world usability. Whether you're a city commuter or weekend adventurer, these new features make the S2 lineup even more versatile and rider-friendly.
