Key differences of electric vs gas motorcycles
Reading up before you demo a LiveWire or just interested about the switch from gas to electric, or maybe you’re just weighing your purchase options? Well we got the list for you, we love our traditional ICE bikes but theres just some things that Electric does better.
Torque
Starting off strong here with the best part. Unlike internal combustion engines, which need to build up RPMs to achieve their peak torque, electric motors provide instantaneous power from stand still, making them particularly effective for city commuting and “spirited” acceleration. This linear throttle response not only enhances rideability but also contributes to your overall agility on the road, just twist and go. All LiveWire motorcycles comes factory tuned with 4 Dynamic Ride Modes as well as a Custom mode to get the exact throttle responsiveness, power delivery, and regenerative braking you desire. And speaking about regenerative braking...

Regenerative braking
LiveWire’s Regenerative Braking system is similar to traditional engine braking but instead of all that kinetic energy being lost to the ether, the motor captures and converts it back into electrical energy, feeding it right back into the battery. Also you wont need to downshift to engage it, just let off the throttle, and before you ask - Yes, this also engages your brake light. And of course LiveWire’s Regenerative Braking is entirely tunable from a firm bite to nothing at all. Personally though, about 80% Regen suits my riding style and I find myself almost never needing to use those beautiful top-of-the-line Brembo brakes, leading to less brake wear which means less maintenance. Win-win.

The sound, or lack of
Who doesn’t love the thump of a V-Twin with a nice exhaust? Well maybe the neighbors at 6am but that’s besides the point. One of the most unique aspects of riding a LiveWire is the the sound, or the lack of it. You’ll find yourself listening to your earbuds at a reasonable volume, or having conversations at a stop light, or just enjoying a moment of peace. Its an experience that is uniquely LiveWire, you’ll soon start to not miss the lumbering rumble of an exhaust pipe and embrace the spritely Zzzzzzzziiiing of the electric motor cycling and the unknown-until-now sound of your tires and the road.

No clutch, no shifting
Even after years of riding a motorcycle, you never really notice the mental capacity it takes to shift gears until you’ve never had to. Unique to LiveWire is the single speed power delivery of electric, no more feathering of the clutch, or remembering what gear you’re in, the correct exhaust note for an upshift, or how impossible it is to find neutral. Its just twist and go, you can now devote all of that mental energy to how you’re riding, what line you’re taking and what to make for dinner.

No maintenance
Do I like to work on my bikes? Yes. Do I also have several bikes that are in some state of disrepair? Also yes. Would it be great to have a reliable bike thats always ready to go, that doesn’t have gummed up carbs and expensive oil changes? Absolutely yes.
This is where the LiveWire really shines, besides the normal pre-ride inspections and checks(which you’re absolutely doing right??) there really isn’t much maintenance to the LiveWire outside of standard wear items like tires and brakes.
Park it and plug it in, simple as.
